Yeah, we kinda got out of sequence.
TJ is like any kid, hot and cold. After the first lap he just wanted to sit in the truck, I convinced him to to do the lower half and after we did that he was ready for another lap. But I was done in, those rocks are not fun. I did most of my previous riding down south, pine trees and sand.
The old DR did well. It is really a lot better than my KLR on the trail
The front end felt "wierd" but other than that no problems.
TJ caught hell with his KX, it's set up for MX so it's a handful to work on the trail. He prefers to to rip it in 4th gear, but the rocks say otherwise.
We are already planning another, longer, trip. TJ wants to camp next time. We'll see what the calender says later.

I got my 450EXC today and can't wait to hit GR. The 'ole KLR feels like a grain silo on wheels compared to the KTM.dirtygrunt wrote:The old DR did well. It is really a lot better than my KLR on the trail

Yeah, but it's a comfy grain silo with matching waterproof luggage.

Found a couple of pics from last month:
This is at the start, I get a lot of this, "Come on Dad!"
It'll get worse as he gets older and so do I.
Me with my bitchin' paint scheme retro DR
I'm trying to decide if I'm up for another lap.
