TX Big Bend Dualsport

Post by Bucho »

Matt and I are at a hotel in Presidio TX. We just did a few days of camping and riding in the National Park. Tomorrow we head into Big Bend Ranch State Park.

When I say “camping” we are’nt exactly roughing it.

This was a nice campsite, very private. 1/2 mile dirt road off of the pavement. The dirt road curved back around a big hill. Couldnt see or hear the road. Muy despoblado.

I dont drink alcohol at all. At the beginning of this trip Matt thought he’d take a break from drinking. At the end of our first full day of riding he walks out of little camp store with this.

Big Bend Ranch State Park was a lot of fun. Im flying home while Matt has more riding adventures in New Mexico.

The National Park is very pretty and very large.

Old Ore Road might have been my favorite one there.

Most of the road is like this. Very easy, maybe just rough enough to stand up rather than sit. A few little parts had some bigger rocks but nothing too bad.

This looked a little younger. Maybe 1930-40s?

I liked these purple cacti

This old house, goat ranch? Cool stuff just left out there.

This is the Earnst Tinaja. (Tinaja means jar or water holder) This is a short hike off of Old Ore Rd. We sat in the shade on the rocks and ate lunch.

This is the wash you hike up to the tinaja. We really felt we could have ridden our bikes up w/out any eco damage. However, Im glad we didnt. We saw about six people here while eating our lunch.

This is Candelillia. You can extract wax from it. There was a small industry in big bend making wax for WWI military tents
