This is a great story. I like how the family bought 4 of them as investments-wow what a return on the 8900 original dealer cost!

I wonder how much the family got. Hope they made out.

In the late 1970's I came across a Shelby GT500KR convertible Mustang that had been sitting in someone's driveway so long the top was rotted and the interior was gone. Body was perfect and the 428 Cobra Jet in it fired up and ran well. He wanted $2000 for it but at that time I didn't have the money to restore it. I always wondered how people grab a deal like that and put it in a barn for 50 years.
There's no way I could have owned that TA without driving the snot out of it especially after seeing the movie Smokey and the Bandit :)

And these are the cars we know about! How many more really rare, sweet rides are hiding under a layer of dust in some remote barn somewhere- Some folks just like owning stuff that reminds them of a time period or just because they like it! so they buy it and stash it away. Cool to see them for sure. 4 of them, identical! That's cool.

$8900 would be $1.1M today in the S&P500. They lost a fortune! Didn't even get to enjoy it. Then multiply that f-up by four.Firebolter wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:14 amThis is a great story. I like how the family bought 4 of them as investments-wow what a return on the 8900 original dealer cost!

My first car was an 81 TA. The memories I have from that car are a different type of fortune...
