Ducati Desert X

Post by Firebolter »

DesertX is the first modern Ducati with 21 "front wheel and 18" rear, long stroke suspension and a new frame designed specifically for the off-road experience. The new DesertX is equipped with the latest evolution of the water-cooled 937 cc Desmodromic 11° Testastretta engine with 110 horsepower and 67.5 lb-ft of torque. Reliable and also designed for touring use, the engine has very long maintenance intervals, with oil change every 9000 miles and valve clearance check every 18,500 miles.

Interesting bike albeit a bland paint scheme. The AT and T7 have an optional scheme that is fairly classic looking. Maybe Duc should have had an Elefant/Cagiva inspired color scheme?

I don't really ride my S2R1000 anymore and keep thinking about selling it. But then I ride it and DAMN its looks/feels/sounds so good.

The above immediately reminds me of the Lucky Strike/Marlboro schemes of the 70's

Ohhh, I could see that. Needs a big red meatball on the tank.

I bet this bike will be pretty sweet and is close to the T7 in both looks and ergo's (appears anyway). My Desert Sled has 18-19 inch tires but once I dropped the counter sprocket 1 tooth, that darn thing is pretty good off road. Granted my Sled has the 800 motor but still, the torque is perfect for off road ADV type riding. I rode it on the S500 in 2019 and rode all of the options on it as a Marshall and had no issues. The bike can handle and I was pleasantly surprised at the handling, Ducati got it right, so I bet this bike will be a real challenger to the rest of the ADV market. The best thing though? That desmo sound-love how the Duc's sound.

A dealership did a version of the Multistrada w/ the 'Lucky' livery. Would look good on the DesertX.
