I split the thread to avoid confusion.

SJ- I know it's early but any details? Time frame? Miles needed per tank? Dirt vs pavement? Overnight camp vs hotel, etc.
Give us a rough sketch?

It got lost in the thread split. July 20-28 (includes travel days).

Lots of single track, little to no pavement I would assume.

Typically we camp, maybe there will be a hotel in the middle for a shower. I think we'll be in areas where someone(s) could get a hotel instead of camp if they so desire. My understanding is we'll be moving bases throughout the trip but I've probably already said too much that Jay will have to correct.

Thanks,

Patrick

I talked to Jay, briefly, about this trip at Greenbriar, he said he has most (if not all) of the planning done. I suspect he'll weigh in shortly. You know it's gonna be a good ride!

SJ may be waiting to put a big post till he has more details figured out.

Ill echo what phoo said. Having been part of some awesome SJ adventures in the past. Usually these will involve day rides w/ a mobile base camp. Most nights will be camping and its really not that bad with Patrick’s “Cube”, SJ’s “JAT” trailer, my own VanOWar, most people will have a dry bed in one of those. The JAT has a pretty decent mobile galley for cooking too.
As Pat said, there may be a hotel in the middle just to take a nice shower in.
SJ said he was planning on bringing his WR450, miles per gas tank shouldnt be too bad. Anyone with an extra small tank might want to consider a larger tank or maybe carrying a few extra liter bottles in his day pack.
Id imagine street legal bikes are a necessity, but should be minimal pavement.

Im getting excited about this one. A lot of fast and flowy trails. Im considering ponying up for a steering damper for my twitchy bike...

Stop considering it and just do it! Steering dampers help so much and make rocks oh my God easier.

Hmm, everyone sure likes to spend my money. Phil, I'll be very interested in hearing how it goes if you get one...
