Lets talk about the KTM 1190 Adventure

I've been debating a sport touring/adv bike to replace my busa and I believe I've finally found it. I'm leaning towards the 1190 Adventure as it will see mostly paved roads with the occasional dirt road/fire trail. I have looked at a number of sport touring and adv bikes but could not find a happy medium between ergonomics, power, luggage and handling. The 1190 appears to be leaps and bounds ahead of the 990 in all aspects. The Ducati is comparable power wise but the maintenance and most of all price concern me.

I know it hasn't made its debut in the US yet but they are expected in October/November. Anyone have any input?

there is an Aussie over on ADV with a thread about the one he bought. He seems to love it.

After reading his thread I was even more interested. As mine will see mostly street duty I would opt for the Adventure not the Adventure R.

As of right now I have plan on buying one when they become available. Started thinking last year that I'd like something between my ST1300 and the KLR650. I really like my KLR but its no highway bike, and have found the ST to be heavy and slow turning after comming of one of my smaller bikes. Sold the ST1300 this spring and making do with the KLR till the new KTM is available. Not shure if I'll sell the KLR then, but an 1190 Adventure and a 530EXC should cover most anything I want to ride. Thinking I want the R model.

+1..... then again maybe some used 990s will come on the market soon
