Interest? Gymkhana/Cone course

Post by Bucho »

I have been kicking around the idea of setting up a slow speed cone course in a large parking lot.
I did a police motorcycle course a while back and was thinking I could recreate the slow speed cone course. I might do it for myself anyway just to do it. But thought if there was any interest I would go to the extra trouble of borrowing a ton of traffic cones, and making it a little more official.

Has anyone ever watched the youtube clips from Japan w/ the gymkhana courses? It could be fun, great for newbies and racers alike. We could time the really good guys and it could be sort of a race. And for the not so good guys it could just be a great venue to practice your skills.

Would set it up this spring. Let me know if this sounds like something you would show up to.

I have done a similar thing with the SM and it is a blast, especially with the right tires.

I've been invited to do a police course with the cops at work a few times but never had the chance to do it with them. I've always wondered how I'd fare on the course with my ST versus their Hardleys.

Yeah, thats the main reason I've wanted to recreate the course. When I was doing it w/ a Harley ElectraGlide, I remember thinking how much easier this would be w/ my DR650. Though now, w/ my DR650 tied up w/ sidecar duty... Should I bring my Concours or the barely plated smoker w/ knobbies?
