Should I show up on slicks?

My rear sumo tire is starting to look like a slick...

Trials rider. This isn't going to be a hardcore offroad dualsport ride. As long as this isn't your first rodeo, you should be able to do it on street tires. Its more a matter of preference. Since this is spring, there could be a lot of slick/muddy dirt roads. A 50/50 tire like a TKC80 would be nice, but not really needed as long as you don't mind some sliding around on street wheels.

+1 on what Bucho said - this is an easy, slow ride - well, there may be a break away group but I won't be in it!

The roads are easy and the gravel sections in good shape. No single track, no rotten 2-track.

New riders are welcome.

Compared to the organized dual-sport rides, this is really wimpy.

Took the 950SE out after work today with Scorpions. Did the dirt/gravel/clay/ice/snow loop around Sugarloaf Mountain. Scorpions are NOT the way to go for slick conditions or mud! I think I'll have to get a second set of wheels for sure - I'm too poor to burn through knobbies and too busy to spend 2+ hours swapping out tires for weekend play. Of course that KTM was about the same price as a second set of wheels....
