I bought this pair of Sidi boots new in 2000(?), but I've only worn them maybe five times since. Mostly because they're so stiff that I can't upshift without lifting my whole foot - can't flex my ankle enough. I know they're supposed to be that way to a certain extent, but is there any way to break them in for a little freer movement?

Breaking in my almost new (old) boots?
Re: Breaking in my almost new (old) boots?
Start wearing them around the house They'll loosen up the more you use/wear them.

Did that already about the whole first week I had them. Tried slathering them with various leather conditioners, even flexed them by hand for hours on end. Still stiff as board.

are these SRS boots? what size? If they are a SRS in size 12, I'll break them in for you for a slight fee...
I'd love to try on the SRS boots.

I was trying to remember what they were called, but that detail has been lost to me and I didn't save the box they came in. No markings inside other than the size (9 - sorry). IIRC, I originally wanted Thor dual-sport boots and they were discontinued, so Ted at JT Motorsports set me up with these meant for Trials instead. Seems they were only $120 - glad I bought them when I did!Kyler wrote:are these SRS boots? what size? If they are a SRS in size 12, I'll break them in for you for a slight fee...

Just keep riding w/ them. You'll get used to it and they will get a little more broken in.

Stiff is good. No broken ankles. My DS boots are flexy, Gaerne, but offer half the protection.
My MX boots are stiff as boards, cheap Thor something or other, but offer a ton of protection. Just get used to lifting yer whole foot. I think that's proper technique anyway?
