Re: 2010 DS Camping Trip 777 Ride (Part Deux)
FWIW...
My intent is to take offroad routes as much as possible.. Last year's addage still applied... It might be dirt, it might be gravel, hell it might be a goat path... We will try and an avoid federal warning and video cameras...
Kinda like the Shenandoah 500 which I see folks run it on GS1200ADv and bigger bikes, I will NOT be riding this one on my KTM 990 Adv, but rather my Honda XRL... It's not to say that folks on bigger bikes couldn't or wouldn't do it (there was a ktm 950SE last year), but I am not one of these rider types.. It's a possibility that I might consider the 990 adv after American Supercamp, and if i put more serious tires than the stock OEM scorpions.. But I can't see why when I have the XRL.. I also wouldn't want to do this on a SM or Motard with street tires either..
I am not trying to scare or prevent anyone one from coming, but from exp.. I know some were definately cursing me out and one was on a KLR (cough cough Ken.. cough).. As I did last year (that wasn't needed), I can provide some more main roads that folks can take to meet up and different spots along the way, or at the very least wherever we are staying if folks want.. Keep in mind that it's hard to keep a schedule when offroad and thus might NOT make certain spots at certain times (and cell phones don't always work in the area ) and that if there are any doubts about a road - it's best to NOT take it instead of waiting till it's a mess and try and turn around after your in over your head... yadda yadda yadda..

I guess it will depend on the paved roads as to whether I can make it all the way down there on my 225.
