We resupplied in Presidio and headed to nearby Fort Leaton.
This is where we bought our passes for the state park.
Neat place you could walk through most of it.

Its a long long way to the inside of the park on a dirt road. Pulling Matt’s trailer it took us two hours to cover the 20ish miles.

Re: TX Big Bend Dualsport
The next morning was interesting. A park officer was upset over the size of Matt’s trailer. He also hinted we were riding too fast the day before.
Ultimately he was ok and really liked talking w/ Matt about EMS stuff. Matt was a given a warning and we were not kicked out of the park.
This days ride had my favorite road of the trip.
Parts were like this, kinda hard to find the road. Not sure how long it had been since anyone had driven down this. Parts of the went down washes, other parts had deep cuts through the road. Some deep enough you had to wheelie the front over them.
This was weird. We think this was some sort of fridge/freeze in the middle of nowhere?

Went for a short hike down a wash near camp. I bushwhacked a little and found some old detritus from a camp maybe?

Our last day in the state park.
This old windmill wreckage was neat. Pulling up water from a well I think. More really cool/fun washes.

Sometimes there wasnt much shade and you had to improvise.
More ruins of old ranch houses These washes were neat. Some were really big. Main park road on way back to camp

Re: TX Big Bend Dualsport
I flew home and Matt had more adventures in NM.
I really enjoyed both parks. Overall I think the National Park had some nicer vistas. There was a few spots inside the park where you could buy fuel, water, snacks, ice, ect…
We rode about every dirt road/jeep trail there.
I dont think we saw a single law enforcement ranger while we were there.
For the most part the riding was easier.
The State Park had absolutely nothing inside for purchase. You had to bring everything with you. We only rode about 1/2? Maybe a little more of the roads/jeep trail there. There were no paved roads at all. Some of the roads were easy and others were harder. Hard enough I dont think Id want to ride a larger ADV bike there.
The officer we spoke to was very happy to talk and answer any questions. However, his advice on hard vs easy trails was sometimes a little funny. In the sense that whats hard for 4x4s vs bikes is different. To me the harder spots were loose rocks. Some parts the roads was just piles of loose rock.
Some of the washes had deeper sand. Fun on the smaller bikes, maybe tougher on bigger ADVbikes.
Id definitely go back again and do a similar trip.
