So, this is the opposite of working on something. The 690 Enduro R is my first big road-going single and I've been using it exclusively on the street (although I did recently buy some KKE wheels and DS tires I haven't mounted them yet). Nonetheless I put a decent AL skid plate on it. Well, heading home from work last week I heard a metallic clunk while going down the highway. I looked around, eyeballed the tires, wiggled the bars, and determined I must have run over something I didn't see as it felt fine. Well, turns out the skid plate had fallen off.
The vibrations from running for long stretches at 7k RPM must have been too much. Dang it, I guess I should have put some threadlock on the screws. Only 2 screws and a couple slots in the back hold the thing on. I'll go over the bike checking for loose screws as a part of the routine from here on. I hadn't had anything like this happen previously in over 350k street miles.
What did you work on today?

Oh wow! On any KTM I use loctite or nylocks. Off road, screws will back out of anything.

I just looked it up. I had forgotten I'd bought an actual KTM brand skid plate. Nearly $200! Dang it.

Go back to where you lost it and look around, it could be sitting on the side of the road. If it is aluminum, you might get lucky and be able to put it back on!Marylander wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 8:24 am I just looked it up. I had forgotten I'd bought an actual KTM brand skid plate. This was the other day, but...
I wanted to replace the spark plugs and the spark plug tubes (the tube in the head cover where the plugs go in; usually they're metal, on these things it's plastic) on the Porsche Boxster S I bought for my wife back in June. Since it's a mid-engine rear boxer engine, to get to the cylinder heads, you have to take off the rear wheels and remove a panel, then reach up behind the body to get to them. It's kind of annoying that even though the plugs are "sit on a milk crate" height, you (or at least I) still end up laying on your back and reaching up over your head to get to where the plugs are. Oh, and pulling the old tubes can be a real PITA but I think on the last one I figured out a trick.

Nice jack! I have one of those as well. The handle wouldn't stay in the jack any longer, so I welded it in place.

Nice GREEN Color Phoo!
I had installed a Corsa Sport Extreme (in front of tire exit) on the F150 and it is just a tad too loud, especially on COLD start in the morning, so I bought the optional Corsa 10inch resonator and installed it inline yesterday and it did just the trick! I never had any droning, but it was raspy when you whacked it or at cold start and now, all of that has been tamed and mellowed out. Sounds so much better with that small resonator to tune out those raspy frequencies! Now it sounds nice and when you whack it, it doesn't scream as much-way better and only a 20 minute job!
