MABDR 5 11/13

Post by John F » Tue Oct 12, 2021 10:45 am

Sonny (Waldorf, MD) and I (Kent Island, MD) are meeting up early 11/13 at National Harbor or somewhere, and heading out to Shepardstown (avoiding major highways to the extent possible) to ride Section 5 of the MABDR. Then, riding home. Long day and nice weather dependent. Sonny will be on his HD Pan America and I'll be on my Buell (non-dirt dirt bike). That's the plan. If anybody want to join for any of it, that'd be great.

Sounds good John, we can meet at the Royal Farms gas station at the Harbor. Hop across the river into old town and get on GW parkway up to Potomac Md. get on River Rd and just ride up along the river. Point of Rocks, Harpers Ferry to Shepardstown? I believe Section 5 back tracks to Harpers Ferry, need to check. Then onto to the route. Feel free to change any of the the route

Tough day John Image but had a good ride, thanks again man! 260 miles in cold and some rain and high winds on the way home. Heated jacket/pant liner worked flawlessly. Shit eating grin for the week and it’s only Saturday

Great day despite the rain. 299.5 miles for me. First part of the ride before the rain through wherever was just great.

Thanks Phil, had some more colorful foliage images but Tapatalk wasn’t too cooperative.

Any case if you find yourself on two wheels, half way thru a scenic byway from Antietam to Harpers Ferry in the middle of showers lol….first place you run into for cover is the Guide House Grille, by chance for us. If you haven’t tried they have Decent prices and food/ drink was certainly hitting the spot. Partial menu, I had the mahi tacos that went down well with a Greyhound

I keep meaning to try them out. I've only heard good things. I live close enough that I've gotten almost there on foot from home (I do some running) so I've got no excuse...
