250 ADV bike
Lots of cool bikes---
Re: 250 ADV bike
OK... Well, 250cc and adventure don't really go together.
Having said that, there are quite a few that can fit into that category when properly sorted.
WR250, current KTM/ Husky 250 DS bikes, KLX 250 even the Xt250. I think it's a Euro/asia thing.
What actually makes a bike an adventure bike?

A 9 gallon fuel tank and rack for milk crate = ADV bike. The rest is just fluff.Laoch wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:00 amOK... Well, 250cc and adventure don't really go together.

Re: 250 ADV bike
That's pretty much right. People have been around the world on 250s and a lot of CRF250, WR250R bikes have done the full TAT. My WR250R has racks on it and the 4.7g IMS tank and with its really long service intervals (24,000 miles for valve check) it's ready to go.Boom Boom wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:22 amA 9 gallon fuel tank and rack for milk crate = ADV bike. KTM makes pretty light bikes but they didn't say what it'll weigh. If it really comes in at $3100 that's less than half the price of a WRR.

Re: 250 ADV bike
I think it's just a big gas tank and being 100#+ overweight.
Not in the little ADV bikes they don't. You have to remember the 390ADV is 40# MORE than a KTM 690R!
The 250 is based off the Duke 250 (just like the 390 ADV is based on the 390Duke) so should come in at 350#+ wet. Then there is the fact the 390 ADV is almost 30# more than the Duke version. So that might put the wet weight of the 250 up near 380#. That's a LOT more than the already (comparatively) portly WR250R (300# wet). Agreed, the feather in KTMs cap will be that its half the price of anything else for folks that want the look. I'd bet the WRR is a nicer bike in every way though (as it shoud be for more $.) There are a ton of used inexpensive WRRs out there too.

Re: 250 ADV bike
The Kawasaki VersysX 300 seems like a pretty cool small ADV bike. The little twin is supposed to be a good motor.
But I'll also say, I've never ridden one.

I think Skierd would ya have a lot to say About a 250s capabilities.
He went everywhere on his wr250r. Finally drove it to Fairbanks and never returned.
