KAT Lodging and Transport

Post by Skinny-J »

By the end of day zero, Monday 6/19 plan to rally in Matewan, WV at the Hatfield McCoy Inn. I have exchanged e-mails with the proprietor and confirmed we can leave our vehicles on-site for the entire week while we ride the KAT. They also have an excellent BBQ joint. For those needing lodging, YOU should call and make a reservation; for both Monday 6/19 and also for the last night when we return from the KAT, Saturday 6/24.

Here is the info from Kathy, mention DAMN riders as I warned her to watch out for you guys:
"Hi Jay,
I am completely open for the 19th with the exception of room number 3.
On the 24th rooms numbers 3 and 2 is booked. All others are available.
There's not a problem with you parking your trucks for the week.
The city is charging $15 per night for anyone sleeping in trucks/trailers.
If you want the rooms I would suggest booking them right away due to the Hatfield McCoy Trails being extremely busy this time of the year.
You can view the rooms at www.hatfieldmccoyresort.com
Click on the lodging tab.
Call me if you have any questions at 304-426-4700
Cell 606-525-9033."

Most rooms have multiple beds so post-up if you are planning on getting a room and you can split it with someone.

For the rest of the nights while we are on the KAT we will just wing it. I will have a list of lodging available in the towns along the way and it usually works out somehow...

Bucho, am I still able to tag along for the drive down?

I don't mind camping in the lot that night or getting a room to split. If anyone needs a roommate for the night let me know.

Sorry to jump the thread as I'm not a part of this however I see you are staying in Matewan. Cool little town and the BBQ joint is great. If you guys find time, jump on the trailhead in Matewan and head to the top of mountain. There is place called the playground up there. It is all open and a blast. Have fun on your journey.

It might only be funny to us Phoo. Not sure if anyone else is familiar with the metal band.

Is there a band Vanowar? Or do you mean Manowar?
Anyway I'm sure many of us here listen to metal music, I've noticed the percentage amongst bike riders is much higher than usual :)
