Got to wonder about Dr's sometimes. My last organized MX in '87 ended in a 2nd moto first turn crash. Was in the top 5 of 30+ bikes and I T-boned someone which resulted in an OTB landing in the pack and I got pounded by foot pegs, forks and tires. My Bell helmet was split through from the top to the bottom on the right side. The on-track medics checked me out and sent me on my way.

By the time a friend drove me home, I was getting stiff a few hrs. later. Not a good sign. I drove myself to the ER. Dr. did the xrays and sent me home with a sprained neck. Went home and slept in a recliner cause I was afraid if I laid down, I couldnt get up (lived alone then).

Next morning the hospital called, "you need to come back in now". Why? "Xrays developed more overnight and showed bleeding in your chest". FU, I headed to my Dr. who checked my parts & sent me to an ortho & heart guy that day.

It may be because I didnt communicate to the ER Dr. well, but he missed my top rib broke off my breast bone, internal bleeding, concussion, bruised heart, crushed muscles on the right side of my neck. Almost lost my thyroid gland too. All that with full protective gear. 9 months of PT to get it all sorted out.

Sorry about the long story, or high jack, Bonehead brought back some memories. Happy ending though, BDirt got me back on dirtbikes 20 years later

Wow, XR. That story is vicious.

Glad you're being taken care of, Bonehead. Take it easy for a while. If you do have a concussion or other brain injury, you don't want to aggravate it.

Michaux State Forest is in PA. Sort of north from Frederick. Really fun dirt roads to ride around on.
