KLR shifter

Post by 21783mike » Fri Dec 18, 2009 2:33 pm

Went to the bank this morning and as pulling out and shifting into 2nd the shifter broke off..... Dunno what happened cause I couldn't have ever bent it :lol2: :harhar: I was close to the garage and it never actually shifted out of 1st so I just rode to the garage and swapped bikes. Anyone have a spare lying around, Ken? Or is there a better after market alternative to the stock flimsy one? I'm gonna weld this one back together but I'd rather keep it as a spare if I can find an unmolested one.

I have a spare stock shifter that you are welcome to

I recommend the MSR shifter. If you don't like the way it fits your foot, cut it and reweld - did that on mine (or I should say racer Al cut and welded it for me).

I also have the stock as a spare. I replaced mine with the IMS shifter.

The Mullet had the exact same thing happen to him while riding to tech at the Shenandoh dual sport ride this fall. He took off on another bike, and found a local farmer with a welder to fix him up...saving the weekend riding for him.

Thank you, I'll see if I can't make it over your way and get it sometime soon.
