I guess he is tired of all the BS you get when trying to sell something. I had a guy years ago offer me half of what I was asking for a jet ski because he wasn’t sure it would float and run. I took it to the river proved to him that it would run and float and then shot it. He thought I was nuts and I was, just got tired of all the idiots trying to steal it!

question for the trials guys, is the price fair?

Not that I have money for it anyway...

Is a bit high compared to the ones I bought last year. Hard to tell condition from the pics. Closer to $2k would be average.

Yeah, agree. $2k more realistic price.

I hate the guys trying to negotiate price before seeing it. I always tell them, and put in my ads, that I only negotiate face to face

Yeah, but if a seller isn't willing to negotiate on something like this ahead of time it's not even worth the trip to see it face to face.

I've got my KTM that way. Negotiating before going there. Asking price was 6900, I offered 5800, he counteroffered 6k and that was the exact price I could afford. In couple of hours I was there loading the bike

Would suck to go there (I think it was around 1.5h trip) with 6k only to find out he is firm on price and won't negotiate.

Yeah, its a tricky game. Many guys seem to put in a higher price so they can drop a few hundred off, and make the guy feel like he got a deal. When he really planned on that price in the first place. And if the guy paid his original asking price than he makes more than he planned.

I have driven 3+ hours to buy bikes. I generally tried to do any haggling ahead of time via a longer phone conversation.

I can understand more if you are just looking at a bike on the other end of town and show up w/ cash in hand to make a lower offer. You haven't wasted much time if the guy tells you "no"
