WTB: 2004-2013 Suzuki DR650

Post by JMK015 »

Like the title says, I'm in the market for a used DR650. For some reason, there aren't very many on the local Craigslist...

1996-2003 is OK too, but its not my preference so I would be paying less for one from this year range.

If you have one for sale, or know someone who does please let me know!

I'm located in Frederick Md, and would be willing to drive ~1.5 hrs one way for a nice bike.

I have a buddy who has two 2006 DR's and he would like to sell one of them. The one he wants to sell needs a little carb work as it has been sitting and hardly used for the past 2 years but otherwise is in decent shape (and Moab tested).

PM if you want me to put you in touch with him.

Not sure if you saw this one, could be considered pricey (plus its more like 3+hrs away), but he sure did do a lot of pricey mods to it (near Pittsburgh):

Cheapest new 2013 I saw was Pete's cycle, $4999 (wow):

Here's one in Winchester:

Thanks for the suggestions. The problem with dealers is that the screw you on bogus 'fees'. I called Pete's Cycle about their $4999 2013, and their "out the door" price is $6499!! Yeah, tax+ tags is going to be ~$500-600, but after they tacked on another $800+ of bogus fees I wasn't interested.

The same thing happened when I called about the $3999 used 2009 on cycle trader. It ended up being $5000 out the door. WTF!? That's nearly new bike money for a 5 year old bike with 12,000 miles...

I think dealers are advertising rock bottom bike prices, but making the profit back with extra add-on fees.

The best deal I have found on a new one is Louden Motorsports. They were really helpful and friendly on the phone, and quoted me $5900 OUT THE DOOR for a NEW 2013! I can afford that, and am seriously considering it, but I think a better deal would be a low mileage used one... but they seem to be hard to find.

JT doesn't have any leftover 2013's... and the 2014's are a bit pricey. Unfortunately, JT doesn't have any used ones either. I like JT a lot, if they had a leftover or used one, I would get it from them, but no luck.

Man, that dealer markup over advertised is discouraging as hell :frustrated: You'd think they'd be more motivated in Dec.
I agree with you on finding a good used one for sure.
I've been looking at similar bikes lately, and finally pulled the trigger on an '06 Honda XR650l with a buncha nice mods and 9k for $2250. If all goes well, doing the pickup tomorrow.
While looking for mine I feel like I've seen a bunch of DR650's, but you're right, when I went back to try and find them I didn't really see many at all around here right now...

See this one in Manchester? http://baltimore.craigslist.org/mcy/4239142621.html Might be a nice low mile bike if those idle issues are minor...

edit Just found these 2 that are within the ad for a DRZ400, check it: http://annapolis.craigslist.org/bik/4204365166.html
