Drz front ends

Is there a difference between drz400s and drz400e front ends? I know the SM has inverted forks. I'm looking to have a complete front end to swap between street and dual sport and have a line on an E and want to make sure that it'll work, with speedo.
Thanks,
Patrick

Looks like "the only difference is the E forks from '00 and '01 are better than the S" (the forks I'm looking at are from 01).

To my knowledge there is no difference as for as fitment from start of production through today. There are some valving and spring rate changes from E to S, if they have never been redone for the preference of the owner....You should look for the '05 up though they did update the front end but the fork tubes will still interchange.

See if frames and neck bearings are same part numbers on bikebeandit microfiche would be my suggestion.

I should have posted an update, but I ended up buying it. So I guess I'll just find out from experience whether or not it fits to my liking. ;-)
