EXC rear wheel bearing replacement question

Post by mdubya »

I pulled the bearings. They were almost too easy to extract. The question is, there is a circlip retainer on the left side, but there was no circlip retainer on the right side; should there be a circlip on the rh side too?

Yep. I looked a little harder and there is a new circlip in the rebuild kit and only the one side has the recess for the circlip. Botton line: the bike is back together with fresh bearings, got 'er started and warmed up to an easy idle.

So now I have the chain adjusted super loose. With the rear at full extension on the stand, I have four fingers of slack just behind the chain block. Does that sound about right? Too loose? Too tight?

Anyways, it will be good for tomorrow.

Let's see how the rider is.

The chain can never be too loose on a KTM  .

I made a "feeler gauge" that works well - I'll show you tomorrow :hi5:
