MAVT helmet rules

I'm reading the MAVT rules. Says trial helmets must be 'motorcycle'. I noticed some trials helmets have no certifications at all like the Airoh sold @ RYP. So.... Does anyone really check? I don't like open helmets (have had lots of expensive dental/jaw surgery done in the past.) Plus, I'm ugly and no one wants to see my mug anyway :lol2:

I see online many other folks in the US just run downhill mtb full face helmets like the Bell Super 2 in competitions. Good news is the newest Bell Super 3R is also MIPS (doesn't look like any trials helmets are yet.) Am I going to be able to run a downhill rated mtb full-face helmet? I already have a Carbon 661 mtb helmet but its not as vented as a newer one, so I'd probably splurge on a new Bell or something so I don't cook next summer. I'd be able to use it for mtb too.

I've seen the downhill mtb and snow/ski helmets. I use an old 3/4 helmet.

Good to hear. I understand trials helmets are.a lot lighter than MX ones. Looks like 700-900g is the norm for trials. IIRC my Fly F2 for MX is over twice that.

They just will not allow a bicycle helmet like the ones that sit on your head. Quality downhill bicycle helmets are used by a few friends and no issues to date. Think the disclaimer is more for a insurance CYA. Now if you was to ride a national trials event they are much more fussy.
