New Look for the DAMN Site

Post by Rut Row »

Many thanks to Ovo and his artistic talents! The DAMN website is getting some much needed sprucing up.

What do you think? Is too much space taken up by the JT's banner? Should we make it 1/2 height and stack it below our banner. That would free up space between the two "tracks"/menus

thoughts?

Can they go side by side of each other?

Gotch ya...

I do think we should make the JT Banner a tad smaller or just skinner as you suggested.

I'm making a test template with them side-by-side - I sorta like it - got a few bugs to fix yet

I wouldn't put them side by side. That diminishes the presence of the site logo.

But what would be pretty badass is to combine the two, which I have *hopefully* attached to this post. It's a really quick mock-up and the final version would have transparency to make the sponsorship tag more like a tag and not have all that dead space, but it should give the idea. I tried using the JT Motorsports oval from their site, but it doesn't shrink down to the required size well. I could modify it a bit to make it have both the oval and the proper text by shrinking the oval more than the text (effectively making the text larger proportionally and therefore still readable) but technically you'd have to verify with them that this would be okay. But since we currently use just text as their ad I don't see how they would care.

BTW, with how I have that laid out, having the DAMN part be clickable to the main DAMN site and the JT part clickable to JT's site would be trivial to implement.

sounds like I need to turnover my webmaster duties! I am not fond of doing segmented graphics.

You can do it as a segmented graphic or as an image map, which is easier to do than you think.

http://www.image-maps.com/ does it for you.

The html below works with the image I uploaded before saved as DAMN_logo-new.gif on a local file system in the same directory as the html.

<div style="text-align:center; width:633px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto;">
<img id="Image-Maps_2201301111441352" src="DAMN_logo-new.gif" usemap="#Image-Maps_2201301111441352" border="0" width="633" height="131" alt="" />
<map id="_Image-Maps_2201301111441352" name="Image-Maps_2201301111441352">
<area shape="rect" coords="10,0,628,98" href="www.DAMNriders.org" alt="DAMN Riders" title="DAMN Riders" />
<area shape="rect" coords="10,95,628,126" href="http://www.jtmotorsports.net/" alt="JT Motorsports" title="JT Motorsports" />
</map>
</div>

Okay Ovo - do a stacked graphic and make the JT's graphic the same width but 1/2 the height
