I am planning on attending if the forecast is not mostly rainy. I've done this ride a number of times, and many in the rain. Haven't done this ride in several years, but my experience in the past has been its a great ride. This will be my first attempt on a pig. In past years I rode more dirt-worthy scooters(CR500/XR600/450XC), which was most welcome on the hero sections, but less welcome on road sections. I'm expecting the reverse on the XRL.

Fun event. There is a massive long, shale ridden trail you go up on one section that is killer! I went around and over (literally) 3 bikes climbing up that thing where guys would flail and drop their bike in exhaustion but I wasn't gonna stop! Good event, well run and organized good.

Been a few years since I last rode this event, but my recollection is that hill was near the start of Day 1. We did our best to start with the lead bikes and probably were only about 40th (of several hundred) when we got to base of hill. Riders ahead of us were *waiting* to begin their ascent until the main line was clear... My buddy screams WHAT ARE YOU ALL WAITING FOR?!! and around the 10 waiting riders he goes, with me in hot pursuit. The long climb was littered with downed bikes and riders, however, no worries because committed riders just stayed on the gas, zigzagging around downed riders, and easily cleared the top. That was a great start to a great ride! I would NOT have wanted to be mid-pack or towards the back of pack as it would likely have been reminiscent of daily rush hour!

Yeah, turn off the pavement, run up the farm road and turn left past the farm and then there it is!

KTM105 and I are headed there Friday. Plan to be in campground by 5pm. Any DAMN riders want to pop by for a frosty, I'll be in a Silver/Red 7x14 Stealth trailer with Sprinter puller.

Good ride on Saturday. Great weather. Couple of DAMN riders were out. It has been a while since I attended this event. They mixed what I remember being Saturday and Sunday's route together. Had some single track and good trails in the ATV park laid out. It was a nice mix of terrain. DD is always a big event and these photos are from Friday at 6pm, by Saturday AM it was packed.

Glad you had a good time Sean! I've gotta hit this ride one of these years!

Also, I got that bottle at the Tower Run down in Alabama. :deal:
But there's always room for another one in my collection!
