Mid Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route - Trip 2 May 11-13

Post by Rut Row » Thu Feb 08, 2018 4:46 pm

NOTICE! One of the core participants is having schedule issues. The date may change :dirtdog:
aka the cool kids trip. This will be a weekend trip. Since the other guys are doing south to north, I propose we go north to south. I think this is a three day trip +/- to do the north 1/2.

I'll be riding my FZ-09 Adventure. I lean towards cheap ass hotels but will camp if that is what the majority want to do.

The trip is weekend of May 11/12/13

They have camping and hotels flagged between sections so the first day of riding would be about 200 miles. It is about a 4 1/2 hour ride to the starting point so the first day may be a butt burner followed by a gravel rod cruise. There is an observation tower shown as an option so if we are ahead of the game we can do that. Depending on work, I may take an extra day off and go up early. There is a campground nearby with rustic cabins.

btw, on the second day there are two options on this route they flag for experts only. They are roads so they can't be too bad

You can consider a ride up to the DAMN Michaux basecamp the night before and launch from there, maybe an hour for most folks. The official route passes within a few miles of my place.

What are you using as starting point?
