I have an opportunity to purchase a 2018 690, do you guys have any thoughts or opinions on that bike?

2018 has a carbon fiber subframe, if you want to hang a rack or bags on there I’d get a 2017 while you can & get leftover pricing.

When the demos of the previous gen came to town I wanted to try one (just on the street) but the demo bike was too tall and stiffly set up for me to even get it off the side stand.

Has the engine changed between the 16, 17 and 18? The dealer said there were some internal changes but I can't find evidence of that online?

Don't think so. A friend of mine has been checking them out & bought a 2017 today.

It's a KTM?

I think there are some minor differences between the KTM 690 Enduro and the Husqvarna 701 in regards to the motor. You may want to look into that if you're actually considering buying one.

Edit: Oops I was wrong about the subframe, I was confusing it with the smaller bikes that will have a composite subframe. So no real difference in the 2018 on that bike.
