You still can!

Just don't care about your score.
And if you can adjust your points "a" and "b" then basically you've got the point of the race :lol2:

I can't go to a race and not care about my score. I guess I just don't understand the point of timekeeping enduros. It doesn't seem like a race it seems like a clock watching contest.

It sounds like you do get it. It's a timekeeping event. They were set up to allow a kind of racing where public roads were involved (and you can't straight up race on open public roads) so the timekeeping was added to make it work. The public roads were needed since it was difficult to find a single area of property big enough for an enduro. So, they would string together smaller areas with public roads.

Right, you have to ride the correct speed on the road,... get to the check in too early you get penalized... burning a check.
Still a race once in the section, even the very fastest guys loose a point or two in some sections. The course is set up to cost you points, every minute you are late at the check out is a point.

So the timekeeping sections are the road or transfer sections and not the "test" or singletrack stages? I don't have any thoughts on winning but I also don't want to suck or have to invest money in crazy computers and such.

The best way to start to figure it out is just do one. You will get a number for the row you're on, if you're row 45 wait a minute behind the row 44 guys before you go into a section and you will get the idea and have fun. Try to get on a row with some DAMN guys or somebody that knows. To get good at it you will need to know when to get to the check ins by time keeping and understanding the role charts, or a computer but that can come later as you get more into it. :roost:

It looks like the ECEA is going to a new membership card system. They recommend getting it in advance; otherwise you will be waiting in a very long line at the first enduro you show up to. Its all on-line; I did mine and it was really easy. If you have ever done an ECEA enduro before, you will probably show up in their list already and you just select and pay.

Details here: ECEA Membership card

Oh, and the membership card is supposed to get you 10% off at 40 different dealers.

I think this is the year I will try my first ever enduro! No time keeping concerns, just want to see if I can go the sixty miles or so without some crippling injury. Trying to check out the schedule and look at YouTube videos to see how difficult. Is the Delaware Enduro a good/easy one to start with? :chicken:
