Kirk doing the log from the difficult side
I finally downloaded this video and watched it frame by frame. That made it easy to see how I screwed up. My front wheel never touched the log so the bike's first contact was the bottom of the bike/back tire which caused the front wheel to immediately come down. That may have been obvious to others but I couldn't see it without stepping through the video... Yeah, I'm kind of slow on the uptake.

Too much wheelie and you were leaning back a little? Maybe going uphill was a factor.
I'd hate too see video of myself. :lol2:

Right, the intent was to jam my front wheel into the log compressing the suspension and then getting some bounce back to get over smoothly. That's what I did from the other side. I just screwed it up when going uphill. I was nervous as it looks worse from that direction.

I have some knobbies on the 990 now. I'm curious how it'll do over this thing.

Sounds like a good idea to me. What does the 990 weigh?

I'd say, if you really do want to try it, that you'd better get it right. :lol2:

Better have that tractor ready. If the KAT is any standard for my log hopping skills, I'll have gas all over my crotch.
