Gilardi Road

Post by Rut Row »

A little something for everyone. Asphalt turns into gravel, turns into unmaintained gravel, the twisties don't show up well on this track. Turns back into asphalt near Boonsboro Mountain road.

I recommend it to your attention.

Yep. That's a good one with some first rate scenery along the way.

Where Mousetown tees into Gilardi there is a house you can't miss. Tires hold down tarps on the roof as "repairs". Trash everywhere. A guy named Wally lives there -- widely known locally as an eccentric wacko, has money, but you would never know it. He is a dumpster diver, trash collector, wildlife nut, plain out weird dude. He does not like people driving "his" road (Gilardi) -- heck he used to block it off with huge stones and trees. Reason is not his strong suit. If ya see him, best to avoid him, lest you be lectured on wasting gas, disturbing the animals, disturbing the peace, etc.

That's about the time to introduce Wally to Mr. Roost.

I found Gilardi Road today. Very nice little piece of pavement and gravel. I even saw the "Wally" guy. He gave me a friendly wave. I guess he was in a good mood.
