Savage River Trail Progress
Re: Savage River Trail Progress
Ok, here is one thing I read about a MVA tagged vehicle. You do not need an ORV sticker, but you must have a hunting or fishing license???? Why?? I don't do either. Another question for them. Thanks.

Re: Savage River Trail Progress
where are you reading that? This is nearly the same as Green Ridge was.
"Users must have a registered ORV with the Department of Natural Resources, or a MVA-tagged vehicle that is suitable for off-road use. "

Re: Savage River Trail Progress
When you look at the registered ORV instructions. It says:
ORV Registration Requirements
Two people riding ATV's on the grass. An ORV is defined as a motorized vehicle designed for or capable of cross-country travel on land, water, snow, ice, marsh, swampland or other natural terrain. Off-road vehicles include a four-wheel drive or low pressure tire vehicle; an automobile; a truck; a motorcycle and related two-wheel vehicles; an amphibious machine; a ground effect or air cushion vehicle; a snowmobile; and a golf cart.
Vehicles registered with the MVA are exempt from purchasing the off-road vehicle permit when using Department of Natural Resources public lands as long as the operator is in possession of a valid Maryland hunting or fishing license.
I have no problem getting an ORV sticker for the dualsport. Just a little confusing.

Re: Savage River Trail Progress
we have never done that in the past. When I was talking with the DNR muckety-mucks they said same as Green Ridge. I'll ckeck with them to make sure there hasn't been a change.YAMPOL wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 12:45 pmWhen you look at the registered ORV instructions. It says:

If you need parking--meaning you are a day-use person and towing/hauling your bike--you need a parking reservation as well. This is new "There is no limit on Day Use reservations without parking. " I read this as if you ride your dual-sport bike there you just need a day-use reservation. I'll confirm that with DNR.
Well....I'll be blunt- that's fucked up. All the work you guys did to make this happen and DNR can't just make a big ass parking lot? Reserve a parking spot and get a day use reservation

there is a guy who lives next to the trail and I suspect he's going to make a killing on cheap parking. He also has 3 cabins.dirtygrunt wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 3:57 pmiRut Row wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 7:42 amwell, I think it could be clearer but you have to get a "pass" aka reservation online. Yes, I'll agree with you.
I'd like to look into this more. Since all my bikes are tagged/dualsports, I wonder if there is somewhere to park my van nearby? Then riding there should just be the cost of gas money.

I'm 90% certain that the farm on the southeast side will have a parking lot. He is trying to get direct access from his farm to the trail too.
