Taged vehicles and ORV trail

Post by thisguy »

I don't remember if this has been stated, but the ORV roads are still open to legal registered vehicles. The roads are state routes, and the only thing that has stopped is the authorization of ORV vehicles being able to be driven on the road. I was talking to the DNR Lt. of the region yesterday. I was under the assumption that the roads were completely closed.

there is a gate across the lower Mertens road parking lot just south of the parking area. Last time I was there I saw signs saying the ORV was closed. The hard part is figuring out where the legal roads are.

The entire trail is a state road. I will see if I can gather some more info. The guy i talked to is Lt. Greg Bartles. He is the acting regional commander of the Western Region.

If we have a State Police escort, I think we would be fine. Even if we were wrong. :ride:

I was planning on taking my tagged rig up there Sunday with a few other rigs. So are there roads to play on for tagged vehicles? I saw a recent photo of a atv and jeep in green ridge.

Street legal vehicles are of course allowed to ride on the dirt roads. There are miles and miles of fun dirt roads, just don't expect any hardcore offroading. Go have fun. Don't go around any gates and you should be fine.
