For the pace I can manage on a pedal bike a full face helmet seemed like overkill.

The full face DH helmet I have is much hotter and heavier than my XC helmets.

I got one of these in yellow and think it will be good and very light and well ventilated.

Focus Jam², snagged it off another riding buddy after riding another buddys e bike and determined I needed one in my life.

Neat, does it have a throttle or pedal assist or both? How much riding do you expect to do on a charge? I assume you've found enough trails close to home to make it worthwhile...

It is just pedal assist. It has 3 modes that you can select depending on how much assist you want, eco (50%), trail (80%), and boost(100%). The amount of assist can be tweaked also with an app although I haven't read much in to doing so yet.

The guy i bought it from said he could get a bit over 20 miles if he didn't run it in boost mode too much. This bike is built with a smaller internal battery than most ebikes (makes it lighter) but has a port to plug in an external battery if the range is needed.

Seems to be enough places to ride around here to have made it worthwhile. I rode another buddy's bike a few weeks ago which sold me on it.

Finally got to ride this thing for a few miles today. Was out of town then was waiting on a brake line that just sat at the post office for over a week before they decided to actually put it on a truck



It is definitely still a work out. You have to put the effort in and it helps you out.

Put some miles on the Focus. I hadn't been to these trails before and it was only about 25 mins away (rolling ridge/speakeasy trails here in Jefferson county). It was way more technical than I was hoping. I would have turned around after 5 minutes on the analog bike








Did have an oops moment. Was able to shape a small rock with a larger rock to a shape to fit the nut and bolted it back on. Pinch bolts were still tight. Weird.

You can ride through those rocks on that thing?

Eh, 50/50. Basically same as the dirt bike, gotta have momentum. Just a lot harder to keep it while having to pedal and not hit rocks with the pedals.
