DAMN Riders - No rules, Just ride!

I`m not asking for the best gps. I`m asking more about looking at planed routes and transferring to a gps. Someone sent me a route in google maps. I can`t even open it! So tell me how you set up your routes? what map source do you use etc ? I would like to not be so dependent on other during a ride.

I ordered the map

Google Maps:

Sign in to google maps.
>go to your places
>Select Maps
>Select create Map
>Under untitled layer select the blue colored import.
>import your file, .gpx .klm etc.

You can also create a map and and export it from google maps.

Now, in order to see the file on a device, your GPS device has to be compatible with using,"importing" these files. One app I'm working with now is called Scenic. I downloaded it from the app store for free and allows you to see and navigate these files for free as well as share your routes. If you decide to download that app let me know if you need assistance with using it.

Bucho has also asked for map help. Seems to me we need to come to your place and do some GPS training. Have the beer cold.

That's purdy! There's a learning curve, i found it best to just put it on the bike and play with it.

Those of you that have the Montana or similar, do you prefere vertical or horizontal mounting? I can make a nice dash behind my rally faring on the 650 but will be horizontal. The KTM gets a Ram Mount.

I prefer horizontal. I feel like it lays out the info better on some of the screens. The map might work a little better in vertical but that's a matter of taste.
