And on the subject of tires, I had been running the GoldenTyre GT216AA fatty front (90/100-21) which is a nice intermediate tire. I currently have the Shinko 546 fatty on there and it works every bit as well at the GT for a whole lot less money. I have a pile of hare scramble, enduro, pavement, and trail miles on it and it still works great. Same height as the GT fatty, just a little narrower.

RMATV has 80/100/21 and 90/100/21 sizes. What is "normal"and what is "fatty"?
I want to put one of these on my Freeride. OEM is 2.75 in x 21 inch

Ive got a fairly shagged Kenda Equilibrium on the rear of my bike. (Like Pat, Im a fan of it).
I just ordered a Shinko "cheater" and Im looking forward to trying it.

The only tire I ever ran on my old KTM was a MT43. I really liked it, it worked for me. But I agree w/ Joe's assessment. I love that itlasted a long time.

I've been running the Fatty at 12 psi & like it, it almost stopped me from pushing my front end out which is a problem I sometimes have. The problem is me & trying to stay focused on riding position. The tire helped in spite of me. I'm due for a new one now since about half the side knobs are torn from the rocks & it still grips better than the original.

I'll chime in with a new tire being offered from Metzler. The mc360 is available at rockymountain now and I have high hopes. I have a few people running them and should be getting a report soon.

Also heard good things about the motoz tractionator it. Heard it does well on pavement despite the pattern.

I've been running the GT216AA "fatty" for 1.5 years now. It won't wear out. It has a ton of traction. I love it. With tubes, I ran it at 8 psi, with Tubliss, I like 5 or fewer PSI.

I liked the Mountain Hybrid for the road, but not off-road very well. I accidentally ran it at 0 PSI once and it did great, so maybe Tubliss and 0 PSI on a Mountain Hybrid is the key. It wouldn't wear out either. I gave 2 of them away with over half tread left.

I just put on a GT216 Enduro X rear tire. I haven't had a chance to try it out, but if I make it to Granville's, you'll see it in action there. It was expensive. If I don't love it, I'm going to try out the Motoz Tractionator next, and maybe that Shinko cheater after that. I've got my favorite front tire, but I'm still trying to find something I like on the rear.

I've got the 505 rear mounted with a new 546 front. Yay. But I just noticed the 505 is mounted opposite the rotation direction. Does this matter even tho the tread looks the same in either direction? Will the cords get screwed running in opposite direction? It's never been used yey.

I wouldnt worry about it. For a rear tire doing mostly offroad I cant imagine it would matter.

Its not uncommon for some people to take their worn rear knobbie to mount it backwards to get a little more life out of the tire.

I've had my 505 mounted backwards since new. I managed to do the same with the equilibrium on my kx. I'm just not that alert... It doesn't seem to have had a negative impact though. Note that I am more careful in checking such things for street bike tires where speeds are higher and maintained for much longer time frames (never had a tire failure in over 300k street miles and bunches of off road hours).
