Scorpion makes some nice helmets that are affordable too in the $150 dollar range. I had a Zox to start with and think the scorp is worth the extra coin. The pads seemed to fit better. Of course, everyone has a different shaped head, so trying them on is the key.

I'd add an electrical repair kit and some quick set epoxy to the list of must haves- put it in the tool kit. A wiring issue can leave you pushing your bike out. I've also repaired cracked cases in the woods with quick set.

I think the highlander suit prob crashes better than the MX gear since the suit is denier, but as long as you have all of that armor on underneath, I'm sure it'll be fine. Oh, I've gone down in the dirt gear on the street too, so I've tested my setup.

My preference is to wear dirt gear if I'm on a dual sport ride. If it's hot I'll wear MX pants and Jersey, if it's cooler I'll wear a fieldsheer highlander 1 piece suit. Regardless of the outerwear, I always wear MX boots, full shin/knee guards, compression suit with back protector and kidney belt, ...

I'm jealous.. But the DRZ is just about ready to hit craigslist and I'm talking to a few people about 450 EXCs. I'll be back in the dirt saddle soon!!
