I have been having problems with the server running out of resources and giving errors. It is better but I'm still getting some periodically. Please report any you get to me at ken@kyler.com.

Re: Beta enters the EV bike scene
Reverse kicks butt! I've added it to my Light Bee (aftermarket controller.) The Ultra Bee has it factory. It shouldn't require anything mechanical. You just apply the three phase signals to the motor in a different order so its 'just software'. I really wish the KTM E had it. I can't find suspension...

Looks nice!
They basically built a SurRon which is a really popular market segment. Not sure why it has gears. Looks heavy. Price is inline with the competition.

Re: Stark VARG
The plastics and other part prices seem pretty reasonable. $150 for all the plastics isn't bad at all IMO. The battery at $7550 is high but not completely out of line for 6.5kWh ($1140/kWh). The KTM E is $3800 for 4.0kWh ($950/kWh) though that was 2021 price and could have gone up a little. Even a h...

Re: Sur Ron Tuning. aka geek speak.
Bafang is prob the biggest name in e-bike motors. To be honest, I'd rather have one of those than a Trek or Specialized or anything proprietary. In a couple years when something breaks you'll be able to get parts or a new updated replacement that fits the Bafang. Simply a massive aftermarket for the...

Re: New ULTRA Bee
Therein lies why I think they've taken to measuring electrics at the rear wheel. That is kind of apples to apples (amongst themselves.) You can design a 50hp electric motor to spin at 10k or 20k rpm. The 20k rpm one will have half the torque (at the motor) but with an additional 2:1 gearing to the r...

Re: New ULTRA Bee
The 80HP version of it claims more torque than my wife's BMW X5 M50 (over 600 ft.lbs). At 260 lbs it's not quite as light as, say, KTM enduro bikes but dang, I have to wonder about how you'd ride a dirt bike with that much power? Is the intended use MX? Not an apples to apples comparison. Many/most...

Re: New ULTRA Bee
Another goofy thing: It uses a common 520 chain. (vs the 420 of the Light Bee.) WTF did they do that? Its massive overkill. I'm now realizing that a 58T 520 rear sprocket is going to be a monster. Due to the smaller pitch, the 60T on the Light Bee isn't any bigger than the Ultra's 46T stock. I suspe...

Re: New ULTRA Bee
Light Bee 2kWh Ultra Bee 4kWh KTM E 4kWh Stark Varg 6.6kWh The KTM makes 20-25mi hard use. I think real world results so far are ~25-30mi for the Ultra Bee (it weighs less and makes less power.) It takes ~30mi to go two laps at Eagle Bay. I'll let you know if we have to push it :lol2: If you go slow...
