Re: Good Day in the Woods

Looks like my 64 tooth (or maybe a bit larger) I run on my Surron. Pulls my fat ass pretty much anywhere. I can do the big hill climb at Phil's but I have to do the old switch back routine 1 time. FWIW, The UB uses 520 chain so the sprockets have less teeth for the same diameter. My orig joking asi...

FS: SurRon tires / parts

I have for sale some extra Sur-Ron parts. Tires: 1) two used 70/100-19 CST tires. These are the oem tires that come on a SurRon w/ low miles. $30 for the pair. 2) two *NEW* 70/100-19 CST tires. These are the oem tires that come on a SurRon. New replacements and have never been mounted. $50 for the p...

Re: Home made 6 speed electirc dirtbike

Thats a pretty cool way to drop a motor into a frame w/o mods. Can appreciate the engineering and work. I see he left the kick starter on :) But gears are pretty much pointless on most AC motors and he'll take an efficiency hit w/ all those constant mesh gears. Just pick a slightly bigger motor and/...

Re: Good Day in the Woods

I'm not sure what sprocket Sam is running on there but with that 16" rear wheel it looks like 200 teeth :) Would give DaveJ's LightBee sprocket a run for its money! I'm sure it has plenty of torque even in eco mode.

Re: Stark VARG

Phoo, Awesome you got to ride one on real trails! Your images aren't showing up for me :( The 20hp no wheelie thing - its weird in that the LightBee, UltraBee, and KTM-Es all make <20hp and will put you on your back when you twist the grip. I still hope they allow some more customization of torque a...

Re: Stark VARG

Arctic Leopard E-XE 880. Lighter than a KTM gas bike and bigger battery than the Varg. WTF? This wasn't even on my radar.

CCW says there are at least 5 more electrics coming out in 2024. Including an Arctic Leopard that is more of an UltraBee competitor.

Sneekers? seriously..... Hey, I'll have you know those are hiking shoes! :) We weren't really riding. I had on just my work jeans and a t-shirt when Phil questioned my not wearing a long sleeve shirt so I zipped back and threw on a jersey. I do more on a mountain bike w/ far less on. I do wish I no...

Re: Stark VARG

You must be in the "convince myself I don't really want a Varg" forums because that's counter to everything I see in the three forums I'm in and the videos I just watched. :) LOL. I just used to design EV drives and can pickup on this stuff quickly. I invented an optimal SVM zero vector s...

Re: Stark VARG

One thing to remember about "25 HP" is that you still get all that torque and watching the video he was clearly not lacking for power. ~Patrick You don't :( It was the first thing obvious on my test ride. Its a total dog at low power. At 25hp it makes less 'snap' than a stock 6hp Light Be...
