Getting the carb out of the x is easiest if you swing the subframe up and remove the top shock bolt. Juddspaintballs and I did it a few weekends ago on his buddies 250x. They didn't leave much room in those bikes.

I would not recommend cutting into the air box. Opening up the exhaust, taking out the emissions crap and are-jet, Will have that bike up to par. For what it is worth, I've put a couple thousand miles on d606s. They are smooth and consistent on asphalt. Gotta run close to 30 psi to keep them from wearing as quickly on asphalt especially the front. I recon that is the same for any nobbie on asphalt. Most importantly with rim locks, gotta run ...

Evidently I bid on this on eBay and won. I'm not sure when or why but here it is. $30 and I can bring it out to Granville in May or the reunion ride.
